Samuel Taylor are a manufacturer of precious metal contacts and contact materials. They are a classical European Company run by an owner-manager team where long-term investments in plant, people, equipment and technology are key to their business plan.
The business can be traced back to before 1895 and has manufactured and supplied precious and other metals right from those early days over 100 years ago. Samuel Taylor was acquired by the present family in 1899 and is now in its fourth generation of owner-managers.
As a world-class manufacturer, STL have built an unrivalled reputation for quality products and technical excellence. These products are often complex electromechanical parts produced on highly specialised equipment and tooling.
Samuel Taylor are an innovative, quality-driven company, which combine a personal service with cutting-edge technology, experience and continued investment.
Since it pioneered the first electrically-driven rolling mill in the early part of the 20th Century to becoming the first UK company to start electrical-contact welding in the 1960s, STL have always had innovation at their heart.
The company continues to lead the way with their unique combination of design capability, tool precision and manufacturing efficiency.
Through a highly experienced and talented team of engineers using some of the best technology and raw materials available, we are able to manufacture custom-made products to suit individual applications. For example, bi-metallic strip rolled to a thickness of 50 microns has a typical tolerance of +/- 3 microns.
STL invests heavily in the latest technologies to design and build press-tools and production equipment. With core technology ranging from metallurgical bonding to mechanical joining, adhesive bonding through to unique metal-processing and transformation skills, STL are fully equipped to tackle the most demanding of customer challenges.
Combining tool design and manufacture with precision focused production systems and optimised raw material feedstock, STL always aim to give low total cost of ownership to their customers.
STL are a truly global supplier, working with customers in over 20 countries including Europe, China, the Far East, Middle East, South Asia and America. STL's commitment to quality and the implementation of ISO 9000 systems has resulted in a culture of excellence which is a cornerstone within STL.
Our in-house tool design and toolmaking facility is a key component of STL’s manufacturing philosophy. With collective and diverse tool-making and design experience of over 250 years, customers can have confidence in achieving their product design parameters every time.
STL works in partnership with our customers design engineers to achieve the optimum solution. Small changes to approved designs, are often advised to enable lower cost and higher throughput.
